GP & MSK Referrals

NHS patients can be referred to Mr. Lodge via the NHS e-Referral Service (e-RS). Your GP or MSK physiotherapist can search for Mr. Lodge by name through the e-RS system and book a direct appointment at York Teaching Hospital.

If you are an NHS patient and have already been referred to orthopaedics but would like to be seen by Mr. Lodge specifically, please speak to your GP about updating your referral. Alternatively, you may wish to be seen privately for your initial consultation, with the option of returning to NHS care for surgery.

For GP secretaries: Direct referrals can be made via NHS e-Referral to Mr. C. Lodge, Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, York Teaching Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

NHS e-Referral Service β†’

Not sure whether to go NHS or private? Mr. Lodge is happy to see patients privately for an initial consultation and assessment β€” giving quicker access to specialist opinion, imaging and diagnosis β€” before reverting to NHS pathways for surgery if preferred. Please contact the secretary to discuss what works best for your circumstances.

Please note that if you are initially seen in a self-pay or private setting and subsequently wish to transfer to NHS care, a formal GP referral will be required. Mr. Lodge cannot directly transfer a private consultation onto an NHS waiting list β€” your GP will need to submit a referral through the NHS e-Referral Service in the usual way.
